$1,000 Ethereum Is On The Table β€” And This Is The Only Thing Standing In The Way

Ethereum (ETH) has accentuated its downtrend on Friday, dropping as low as $1,534 as selling pressure continues to weigh on the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap. With one critical support zone now being tested, analysts are warning that losing it could open the door to a far deeper drop β€” one that puts $1,000 squarely on the table.

Top Analyst Sees $1,089 If This Level BreaksΒ

Technical analyst Ali Martinez flagged the situation in a post on X (previously Twitter), pointing to a critical volume block between $1,584 and $1,683 where nearly 4 million ETH tokens have changed hands.Β

Volume clusters like this matter because they represent areas where a large number of buyers and sellers previously transacted, making them natural battlegrounds when price revisits them. Whether Ethereum holds or loses this zone, Martinez said, will determine which direction the next significant move takes.

Hold it, and the path clears toward the next major supply clusters at $1,980 and $2,079 β€” a meaningful recovery from current levels. Lose it, and the picture changes considerably.Β

Martinez warned that a breakdown below this support opens the door to demand zones at $1,237 first, and potentially as low as $1,089. At the time of writing, Ethereum was trading around $1,554, meaning that the lower target would represent an additional 30% decline from current prices.

Ethereum Could Fall Another 40% To 60%Β

Crypto research firm 10x Research arrived at a similar conclusion through a separate analysis. The firm identified key support sitting in the $1,569 to $1,581 range and warned that a confirmed break below that level would expose Ethereum to a drop toward $1,100 to $1,200 β€” a zone that sits notably below the FTX bankruptcy claim price of $1,258 recorded in early November 2022.Β

On the upside, 10x Research noted that the $1,600 level carries more historical touchpoints than lower bands, meaning it should, in theory, offer stronger support than anything below it. But that reassurance comes with a serious caveat.Β

The $1,100 to $1,200 zone sits dangerously close to the $1,000 psychological level β€” a round number that tends to attract both panic selling and speculative attention in equal measure. A confirmed break below $1,600, the firm concluded, would imply a further 40% to 60% decline from current prices before any meaningful floor is found.
