Strategy’s First Bitcoin Sales Under Its Monetization Program β€” Over $200M In Seven Days

Strategy has begun executing its newly disclosed Bitcoin (BTC) monetization program. The world’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder sold a combined 3,588 BTC across two separate transactions last week, reducing its holdings to 843,775 Bitcoin as of July 6.Β

Strategy Reduced Its Stack By 3,588 BTCΒ

The first sale covered the period between June 29 and June 30, with 1,363 Bitcoin offloaded at an average price of $59,256 each, generating $80.8 million. The second transaction ran from July 1 through July 5, with a further 2,225 Bitcoin sold for a combined $135.2 million.Β

Together the two sales totaled approximately $225.6 million β€” Strategy’s first meaningful reduction of its Bitcoin position since a symbolic sale of just 32 BTC earlier this year.

Amid this, Bitcoin has retraced 50% from its April 2025 highs, leaving Strategy’s holdings underwater on paper. As reported last week, the company responded by formalizing a Digital Credit Capital Framework β€” designed to protect its preferred securities, improve liquidity, and preserve its long-term BTC position.

The new sales program authorizes Bitcoin to be sold when management judges it as more advantageous than issuing new shares or pursuing other capital market transactions.

What is worth noting is that Bitcoin kept climbing through the sales. The leading crypto was trading at $63,658 at the time of writing, continuing a recovery that has pulled the broader crypto market higher alongside it, suggesting that investors had already priced in the possibility of Strategy selling after the framework was announced.

A Milder Bear Market?Β

Bernstein analyst Gautam Chhugani offered useful context in a note Monday, reported by Yahoo Finance. Despite the sales, Strategy “continues to be a net buyer in the market,” he wrote β€” pointing out that the company’s buying activity has functioned as a stabilizing force.

“It is unclear if we are completely out of the woods, but this crypto bear market has been milder than the previous drawdown,” Chhugani said. He noted that Bitcoin inflows from leading treasury companies and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) stand at $10 billion in 2026, compared to $60 billion last year.Β

Spot Bitcoin ETFs have shed $5.5 billion in withdrawals this year, but corporate treasury buying β€” led by Strategy β€” has kept net market inflows positive.

Bitmine Added 42,197 ETH Last WeekΒ

Elsewhere in the digital asset treasury space, Bitmine β€” the largest corporate Ethereum holder β€” moved in the opposite direction, increasing its buying activity over the past week.Β

The company, led by Chairman Tom Lee, purchased 42,197 ETH worth $74 million, bringing its total holdings to 5.74 million ETH and moving it closer to its stated goal of controlling 5% of ETH’s total circulating supply.

Ethereum has outperformed Bitcoin over the past seven days, gaining 13% to reach $1,788 at the time of writing. Despite that recovery, the second-largest cryptocurrency remains 64% below its current all-time high of $4,946.
