FTX Just Announced Its Fifth Creditor Payout β€” $900 Million at Month’s End

FTX announced Friday that approximately $900 million will be distributed to eligible creditors on July 31 β€” the fifth wave of payouts since the bankrupt crypto exchange began repaying those affected by its November 2022 collapse. The distribution brings the bankruptcy estate’s total repayments to nearly $10 billion since the reimbursement process launched over a year ago.

What Changed For FTX CreditorsΒ

As in the previous dates, eligible creditors for the fifth distribution are those who completed pre-distribution requirements by the record date of June 16, 2026.Β

Funds will be delivered through one of three distribution service providers β€” BitGo, Kraken, or Payoneer β€” within 1 to 3 business days after July 31. FTX said it will announce subsequent record and payment dates in due course.

The fifth distribution covers multiple creditor classes. Claims from Dotcom customers increased by 9%, bringing their cumulative total to 105%. Claims from U.S. customers increased by 5%, also reaching 105%.

General unsecured claims and digital asset loan claims each received 3%, for 103% in total. Convenience claims, which are typically from the smallest creditors, reach 120%, the highest of any group. Preferred equity holders also receive a second payment on the same date.

Most creditor classes recovering above 100% was not the expected outcome when FTX collapsed in November 2022. The exchange went down virtually overnight, wiping out billions in customer funds and shaking confidence across the entire crypto industry.Β

The recovery has been driven by asset sales, legal settlements, and the appreciation of crypto assets held by the estate β€” though the current bear market appears to be having an impact.Β

With most major cryptocurrencies sitting roughly 50% below their all-time highs, the fifth distribution is the smallest of the five rounds, falling below $1 billion for the first time since repayments began.

For context, the first payout, in February 2025, disbursed $454 million; the second, in May 2025, sent out $5 billion; the third, in September 2025, distributed $1.6 billion; and the fourth, in March 2026, paid out $2.2 billion.Β

Sam Bankman-Fried Gets a Unanimous Senate ResolutionΒ Β

As CryptoDepth reported this week, the legal situation around FTX is still moving on a separate front. The US Senate voted 100-0 to pass a resolution declaring that Sam Bankman-Fried, the exchange’s co-founder and former CEO, should “under no circumstances” receive executive clemency β€” covering both a pardon and any commutation of his 25-year sentence.Β

FTX’s native token FTT did not react to the distribution news. The token is down 23% over the past month and currently trades at $0.2067, according to CoinGecko β€” sitting 99.75% below its all-time high of $84.
