Ethereum Keeps Returning To This Key Level β€” And Every Time It Has, A Major Rally Followed

Ethereum (ETH) climbed back above $1,700, once again reaching a level that has served as a launching pad for some of the token’s biggest rallies twice before.Β

In a Wednesday social media post on X (Previously Twitter), technical analyst Ali Martinez laid out the historical case for why $1,580 matters more than most support levels on ETH’s chart.Β

One Level That Decides Everything For Ethereum

Over the past three years, this price has consistently served as the primary support level, where selling stops and buying takes over. In October 2023, testing $1,580 was followed by a 149% rally. In April 2025, the same level triggered a 203% increase. Most recently, Ethereum bounced directly from $1,580 back up toward the $1,800 resistance range, continuing this pattern.

However, Martinez’s assessment is not purely optimistic. He identified a structural concern that makes each subsequent test of this level riskier than the last. Each time a support level is tested, some of the buying interest parked there is used up. The floor does not disappear, but it gets thinner.Β

Buyers who defended $1,580 in 2023 and again in 2025 have already committed their capital. If the level gets tested again, the analyst believes fewer of them will remain. Maintaining high-timeframe closes above $1,580 is mandatory to keep the ETH bullish thesis intact and preserve the foundation for another major expansion,” Martinez wrote.

Ash Crypto approached the situation from a more immediate angle, mapping out the key levels to watch in either direction over the near term. With ETH recording a 2% pullback over the past 24 hours and uncertainty building around whether another flush lower is coming, the analyst identified $1,670 as the first support below current prices, followed by a stronger floor at $1,500.Β

On the upside, Ash said Ethereum needs to clear the 50-day moving average (MA) and push above $1,850 to build meaningful bullish momentum β€” with $2,400 as the target if that breakout holds.

A Final Drop To $890 Before $7,000Β

Tony Research saw the short-term rally coming too β€” but his conclusion goes further than either Martinez or Ash. He acknowledged Ethereum could push toward $1,900 to $2,000 in the near term, in line with what the other two analysts projected.Β

But in his view, that move would be a setup rather than a reversal. After the initial push higher, he expects seven to ten days of distribution β€” a period where holders who bought at lower levels use the rally to sell β€” followed by one final drop that takes Ethereum into the $1,260 to $890 range.Β

He described that zone as his primary accumulation target, adding that there is a possibility of a brief wick below the 2022 lows to sweep liquidity before the real bottom is confirmed. From that low, Tony Research’s long-term target is $7,000 β€” the beginning of what he described as a new bull cycle.
