Ripple Mint Just Launched β Here Is What Changes for RLUSD and the Institutions Behind It
Ripple disclosed Thursday the launch of Ripple Mint, a platform that gives financial institutions a dedicated environment to mint, redeem, bridge, and manage its RLUSD stablecoin.Β
How Ripple Mint Actually WorksΒ
Ripple said that the new platform offers two access modes β a web interface for manual operation and an API layer for automated integration β allowing institutions to connect RLUSD directly into their existing systems.
Meet Ripple Mint.
A unified platform for institutions to access, mint, redeem, and manage $RLUSD.
Built for scale with both UI and API access, Ripple Mint gives institutions the flexibility to automate stablecoin operations, integrate RLUSD into existing systems, and manageβ¦

The practical difference between the two is that a treasury team can manage RLUSD activity manually through a web console, while a fintech or market maker can connect directly via API to automate minting and redemption workflows.
Beyond access and management, the platform also supports bridging RLUSD across chains β a feature that connects directly to Ripple’s broader multichain strategy.Β
RLUSD launched on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain, but has since expanded to Base, Optimism (OP), Ink, and Unichain.Β
The company also flagged the relationship between RLUSD and XRP specifically, noting that as RLUSD becomes more widely available across decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, XRP is positioned to serve as a complementary asset for liquidity, settlement, swaps, collateral, and cross-chain payments.
RLUSD Peaked, Burned, and Still Has $1.59 Billion in SupplyΒ
RLUSD’s total supply stands at approximately $1.539 billion, with the XRP Ledger holding roughly 863.2 million tokens β a 56.1% share β against Ethereum’s 676.1 million, according to DefiLlama data from earlier this month.Β
The XRP Ledger’s RLUSD balance has more than doubled since mid-May, rising approximately 128% from 378.8 million tokens β a sign that institutional activity on XRPL has accelerated despite the bearish conditions.Β
The stablecoin also surpassed a $1.64 billion market cap on June 17, though supply has since contracted from that peak to $1.59 billion following a series of burns.Β
Ripple burned at least 80 million RLUSD tokens between July 6 and July 14, pulling the market cap from approximately $1.9 billion at its late-May peak to around $1.52 billion.
XRP was trading near $1.10 at the time of writing, consolidating below the $1.20 resistance level that analysts have identified as the next meaningful hurdle for the token.Β
